Think and Grow Rich continues

Tonights reading was a huge success and one that I fully enjoyed. I had read this book in the past but perhaps because I skipped the forward I missed out on very critical part of the book that the author was trying to emphasize. Napoleon Hill encourages all who read this book to do it as if it were a text book. And being so you should not read more than one chapter per night. My first big mistake was reading till the point of being tired and then picking up again later. Second important piece of the puzzle was he recommends that this book be read in a group of like minded people who seek the same enlightenment and understanding that the book has to offer. And upon completion of the first chapter to discuss what was read in an open forum. Yes, I definitely did not do that before.

However, tonight I did follow the instructions of the author and did exactly as he prescribed. And let me tell you it made tonight reading so much more entertaining and insightful. We will continue our weekly reading next Wednesday at 9pm again and as always anyone is invited to join the live webinar as the more variety of people and insight creates greater understanding and thought. The webinar is hosted by GoToMeeting.com and is free all that is required is for you to sign up prior the webinar to gain access to the event.

One of my favorite excerpts from tonight reading was this:Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 9.21.47 PM

Once again excellent reading and I hope to see you all there next time as we start Chapter One. Soon as the next webinar sign-up becomes available I will post on my blog however, if you are concerned you might miss it please feel free to email me and I will forward the link to you as soon I receive it.

Best wishes

Andrew Carnegie

Earlier today I posted that there will be a free webinar reading of the famous book “Think and Grow rich” and after talking with a few people to my shock they didn’t really grasp who Andrew Carnegie was and what the book is really all about. So I thought I would share just a little info about these two topics.

Andrew Carnegie, according to Wikipedia “was a Scottish-American industrialist who led the enormous expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century. He built a leadership role as a philanthropist for the United States and the British Empire. During the last 18 years of his life, he gave away to charities, foundations, and universities about $350 million[2] (in 2015, $13.7 billion) – almost 90 percent of his fortune. His 1889 article proclaiming “The Gospel of Wealth” called on the rich to use their wealth to improve society, and it stimulated a wave of philanthropy.”

This man at the end of his life I believe discovered the true joy of life and that was to give back to society. Andrew Carnegie invited Napoleon Hill to write the book and the premise was what set the rich apart from the rest of the human populace. Napoleon Hill met with all the key figures of that time and put together his masterpiece “Think and Grow Rich”.

Many people believe that the book “Think and Grow Rich” is only a text about money. It is not about the accumulation of money but instead it is about the understanding that all people can achieve great levels of accomplishment through retraining how we think and approach our lives. So once again if feel free to join our webinar this evening “Think and Grow Rich. Part 1” on Wednesday, January 13th, 2016 9PM EST link below:

So just to add a little shock factor I want to just show you a small glimpse of how Andrew Carnegie lived his life. Those of you who have been to Cooper-Hewitt museum in NYC did you know that museum was once Andrew Carnegie’s mansion? He donated it to NYC and it is such a beautiful place if you get the chance I highly recommend it. Just a few pics of this amazing museum/ mansion.

Self-Confidence Formula

FIRST: I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my definite purpose, therefore I demand of myself persistent, aggressive and continuous action toward its attainment.

SECOND: I realize that the domination thoughts of my mind eventually reproduce themselves into physical reality, therefore I will concentrate my mind for thirty minutes daily upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to be, by creating a mental picture of this person and then transforming that picture into reality through practical services.

THIRD: I know that through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of realizing it, therefore I shall devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of the factors named in the sixteen lessons of this reading course on the Law of Success.

FOURTH: I have clearly mapped out and written down a description of my definite purpose in life, for the coming five years. I have set a price on my services for each of these five years; a price that I intend to earn and receive, through strict application of the principle of efficient, satisfactory service which I will render in advance.

FIFTH: I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure unless built upon truth and justice, therefore I will engage in transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to me the forces I wish to use, and the co-operation of other people. I will induce others to serve me because I will first serve them. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness and cynicism by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me because I will believe in the and in myself.

I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory and repeat it aloud once a day with full faith that I will gradually influence my entire life so that I will become a successful and happy worker in my chosen field of endeavor.

This morning I was reading and came across this section in the book Law of Success by Napoleon Hill and was filled with happiness and inspiration and know that this will positively affect others the way it has me so I thought id share it with you. Also I learned a long time ago the best way for me to remember something is go through the painstaking habit of writing word for word back out and reading it aloud to myself. So I gave you a positive lesson today but you also helped me to remember this important lesson quicker. So thank you!

An old book for the modern era

“Do not wait: the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along.”
― Napoleon Hill

Over the past couple of weeks I have caught myself not able to put this book down. Some I am sure who have read the book may feel like this is common sense and blow it off as just another self-help book. But after taking a closer observation there is a lot of great knowledge in this book. Even if you do not believe in the idea of brain power or the ability to control your own destiny I think you will still find this book interesting from a historical stand point. Napoleon Hill has provided his readers an inside scoop in the life and goings of great men such as Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, and several other prominent men during America’s industrialization period.

As I was saying earlier some may feel that this is just another self-help book full of common sense ideas, but often we are so busy in the daily choirs of life that we often get off track as to our end purpose and that is where I believe this book excels.

One of my favorite topics in the Law of Success is his description of a ship at sea. Napoleon Hill compared our goals to that of ships voyage, in that you may have a strong ship ( hard-working ethics), but if you do not chart your end destination you will be lost at sea and all your hard work for not. So like I said this book has helped me to re-align my goals so that I don’t have to spend more than necessary time out to sea, so to speak.

So if you have time and are looking for something lite and uplifting to read I highly recommend this book. And if you would like to know more about Napoleon Hill here is a link to his Wiki page.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_Hill
